Codsall Community High School is located in the small and rural village of Codsall, on the outskirts of Wolverhampton.

In April, 2009, the UK's first school based Football Academy was created at Codsall, running in conjunction with the nationally recognised BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport, equivalent to 3 A-Levels. The two-year course aims to cater for the 16-19 year age range and provides students with the opportunity to study for a nationally recognised qualification whilst enhancing their football development by training with the Football Academy squad and highly qualified coaching staff, every day. We also offer the FA Level 1 and FA Level 2 football coaching awards, delivered by our own members of staff, a unique opportunity for our students.

Our 6th Form has consistently been the highest achieving in Staffordshire, with over 95% of Football Academy graduates achieving 3 A*A*A* grades since 2009. We currently have over 90 boys in the Football Academy which is now regarded as the highest achieving Level 3 course in the country. The majority of students graduate onto University courses, with several obtaining scholarships in the USA, and we have very close links with Wolverhampton, Worcester, Staffordshire and York St.John Universities.

The Football Academy operates four teams, competing in the British College's Football League one afternoon per week and also participating in the Staffordshire and West Midlands cup competitions as well as the English Schools National Cup. Year 12 students get the opportunity to train for and participate in the Needham Memorial Day Tournament in Boston, USA, a 12 day tour. Additionally, we regularly organise friendly games with local professional clubs. Home fixtures are played on the main school pitch, reserved for Football Academy games only. Students have access to the excellent facilities at our on site Sports Centre as part of their training programme, including our floodlit 3G pitch, fully equipped gym and swimming pool.

Students will have opportunities to obtain additional nationally recognised qualifications throughout the course and develop their personal and social skills by interacting within the school and local community groups. A multitude of post-school options are available to Football Academy students. They are tracked on a daily basis and mentored closely, with a large emphasis being placed on their academic achievement, receiving sound careers advice.
